Vice President of Sales & Engineering

Adam Budnick provides continuing support in product development and engineering, Adam is primarily responsible for growing sales and direct-fired product applications in specific OEM markets. These include make-up air systems for the food service industry and spray and bake systems for paint finishing operations. Adam also has selected product sales responsibilities, such as carwash air process dryers, construction heaters, door heaters, fan boxes, and burner boxes.

Adam has been with AbsolutAire since its inception in 1992, actually initiating product design and assembly drawings as his father, Jack W. Budnick, and Bob Jauch were in the process of incorporating the business and finalizing start-up plans. He assumed his prior role as a Sales and Engineering market development specialist in 2005.

A 1990 graduate of West Catholic High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Adam has attended Aquinas College, Grand Rapids Community College, and Western Michigan University for selected, job-related studies. During his career, he has also participated in various industry or systems-specific training activities.

Chris J. Russell

Chris J. Russell

Sales Engineer

Chris Russell is a Sales Engineer at AbsolutAire. His primary responsibilities include providing customer sales and engineering support on a daily basis. He interacts with representatives, OEM’s, and contractors, producing quotations for the company’s full product line. Chris is also involved in sales representative training and development.

Chris’ career at AbsolutAire began in 2012 after leaving Trane West Michigan. As a New Systems Project Manager, Chris handled equipment submittals, approvals, and procurement, in addition to managing project financials and delivery coordination for equipment to job sites. Chris also worked at Young Supply/CES Division in the Applied Products sales department, and gained management experience as the Vice President of F.C. Moran & Son. Chris earned an Associate in HVAC+R from Ferris State University in 1995

Elgin L. Clark II

Elgin L. Clark II

Sales Engineer, Western Michigan & Northern Indiana

Elgin Clark is a Sales Engineer at AbsolutAire. In this role, he is responsible for developing and growing sales for the company’s commercial and industrial direct-fired equipment in its Western Michigan and Northern Indiana market regions. Among his key activities, Elgin is focused on new account development, assisting engineering firms with facility design and mechanical systems’ specifications, interfacing with mechanical and sheet metal contractors on project pricing and scheduling, and providing factory technical support on selected projects.

Elgin began his AbsolutAire career in 2006, following more than 15 years of mechanical systems’ marketing and sales experience in Western Michigan. He has held positions as a Sales Engineer and Sales Manager for V & L Sales, a former provider of food-service equipment and commercial make-up air and heating and ventilating systems. Elgin was also a Sales Engineer for Swaney Sales in Grand Rapids, Michigan, specializing in the design and layout of commercial and industrial heating and ventilating systems for this major Western Michigan HVAC sales firm.

In 1990, Elgin earned a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. His coursework included an Industrial Marketing major and a Manufacturing Technology minor. He has been an associate member of ASHRAE since 1997.

Frank P. Gray

Frank P. Gray

Sales Engineer

Frank Gray is a Sales Engineer at AbsolutAire. His primary responsibilities include producing accurate and comprehensive equipment quotations to sales representatives, contractors, and end users. Frank works closely with AbsolutAire sales reps throughout the job bidding process, ensuring that they have the sales support they need to secure orders.   


Frank joined AbsolutAire in 2011 after graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Purdue University. While there, Frank worked as a Designer and Fabricator in the Purdue University Central Machine Shop, and as a Product Processor for ALcast Company. He also was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, and he served as the Facility Coordinator on the fraternity’s housing board. He is an active member of the Kappa Sigma Alumni Association.

Kris R. Witteveen

Kris R. Witteveen

Director, Quality Control & Customer Service

Kris Witteveen is the Director of Quality Control and Customer Service, as well as a Sales Engineer at AbsolutAire. In this role, he is responsible for providing quotations for custom units across all product lines, including equipment with cooling sections, energy recovery heat exchangers, and special controls. Kris is also focused on product development, working with engineers and company representatives on equipment specifications, providing engineering assistance to the sales and customer service groups, and managing electrical engineering services.

Kris began his career at AbsolutAire in the Customer Service department in 2005, with more than 20 years of industrial design and engineering experience. As a high school student, he began his career preparing submittal drawings for Espec Corporation in Hudsonville, Michigan. Kris eventually became involved with designing Espec’s world-leading environmental test chambers and had added responsibilities in CNC machine programming. Prior to accepting his current role at AbsolutAire, he also designed industrial fluid chillers at Koolant Koolers in Kalamazoo, and he served in sales, design, and project supervision with American Metal Fab in Three Rivers, Michigan.

In 1989, Kris earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, where he was also awarded drafting and design certification. During his business career, Kris continued his education with courses and training in universal refrigeration, team leadership, and value stream mapping.

Laurel A. Olsen

Laurel A. Olsen

Sales Coordinator

Laurel Olsen is a Sales Coordinator at AbsolutAire. Her primary responsibilities include providing sales support and equipment quotations for the company’s direct-fired products, training and assisting sales reps in their use of AbsolutAire’s online pricing software, and new order processing and acknowledgement. She also manages and tracks quoting activity within the sales department, and is involved in the company’s marking and website development.

Laurel joined AbsolutAire in 2010 as a temporary employee, filling in as needed in a wide variety of administrative roles. Laurel became a full-time member of the company and assumed her position as Sales Coordinator in mid-March, 2010. Prior to joining the company, Laurel held a variety of customer service and reception positions during her college years.

Laurel graduated with honors in December 2009, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Michigan State University. In her three-and-a-half years at Michigan State, Laurel took numerous writing and literature courses, as well as several communication classes as a separate area of study.
